Pixie's Snippets Playground - Week 287 and 288

Oh it's been a fun time here in Hampshire! At one point we had six fans running in the house when the heatwave was at its height! Phew - I love Summer, sunshine and hot weather but even that almost had me beat!

Anyhow, here's my snippets card for this fortnight:
I used:

- 5" x 7" white card blank, tent style

- image from the Crafters Companion 'Baby Bamboo' stamp set and Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink - this adorable stamp set was a gift from Val some time ago, and it's a real joy to use!

- I also stamped 'Wish upon a star...' from the same set - plus the letters for the word 'BABY' much further up on the piece of white card I was using

- then coloured the image and word 'BABY' using Promarkers

- used a die from the brilliant The Works 'Stitched Squares' set of dies to cut out the image with its sentiment

- then glued the image onto a snippet of blue card

- had already picked out a couple of patterned snippet strips for colour matching so they were trimmed and glued to the top and the bottom of the card. They were tucked in the back of a lovely paper pad which came free with QCME magazine ages ago (called 'Let's Fly'). As always, I left some overhang at either side of the strips and then trimmed them down from the back so they were flush with the card front

- then glued the image panel to the card front

- added a tickle of clear Wink of Stella to the small stars

- cut out the 'BABY' letters and fixed them to the image panel using little thin sticky pad pieces - finished!

I loved using this sweet set of stamps - all we need now is for someone to have a baby! And, of course the stitched square dies are such fun to use - there are eight in the set and the largest one is an impressive 'almost' 4.5" across!

As is often the case, no need to really spell out what this fortnight's prize is made up of:
It's a Crafters Companion 'Baby Bamboo' stamp set (Val kindly sent me a set for the toy box as well as mine!) - plus from me there's a set of The Works 'Stitched Squares' dies. The stamp set is made of unmounted rubber but is easy peasy to snip into relevant pieces and I adhere mine onto the Misti by swiping a stripe or two of removable glue runner across the back of the stamp when setting it in place. It easily wipes off the rubber and the Misti with a baby wipe. Plus, I found this in the toy box as well - a Bow-Easy bow maker:
Mine is lurking somewhere safe but I thought it was time to offer this one - such a useful piece of kit for those of you who love to add bows to your work! It beats using the prongs of a fork for the teensy bows, as I used to :)

I will split the stamps, dies and the bow maker if you only wish to play for one or two parts of the prize - but feel free to play for it all as a single bundle :)

The Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks from now on and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday 8th July. The gates will open again at midnight UK time on the same day.

It's still a maximum of ONE entry and please say in a comment if you wish to play and be a possible winner of the prize. The prize is all three items together as a single prize, unless you really do only want to try for a 'split' - in which case I'd do a further draw for the other item(s). Please also link back to the Playground in your blog post to be eligible for the draw.

Remember, if you link into the Playground and don't say clearly that you're wanting to be in the draw then you will be bypassed if your name comes out of Mr Linky. I'm sure you all know I ask for a positive 'yes' just in case you're playing only for fun. Thanks!

Mr Linky is below - please let me know if you have any problems linking, it's easy for me to sort out so don't struggle on alone :)

Be sure to call back next week to see the winner of last fortnight's prize (the Clearly Besotted 'elephant stamps and dies' and the Spellbinders Borderabilities dies) plus my picks from the past two weeks.

Once again, it's the monthly Rudolph Days challenge over at ScrappyMo's. Time to make a Christmas card girls!

Love from Parsnip and of course from me,

  1. Absolutely adorable card, Di! We're having a heat wave, too & it can't cool down soon enough for us! I'll play just for the bow maker & stitched squares this time.

  2. I love the sweet panda and the pretty background paper you have used Di and the stitched square looks great with the pastel blue layer, and would like to say 'yes please' to the prize if I get my card in. The weather is much better now it has returned to normal Summer temperatures as it is difficult to function when it gets that hot. x

  12. Hi Miss Di

    Stranger alert!!!

Sorry for being absent for so long .. .. I don't know where this year has disappeared to. Let me know if I need to do detention, scrub the loos with a toothbrush or write some lines.

Loving your snippet card .. .. such a lovely cute image. I didn't realise they do dies at The Works. Must have a peep in there next time I escape to town.

Hope all is well with you Di .. .. and all the fellow playmates.

    Love and hugs

  14. Gorgeous card - I have to admit that until I got my stitched ovals dies (which I've used on my card today) I hadn't realised what a difference the stitched effect on a die cut made, so now I need all the shapes! Which means I'm definitely playing to win this time
Actually it's been a bit too hot for much barging around - and where is our promised rain now it's turned a bit cooler? As you can imagine, Mark is getting pretty worried about his garden.

  20. Wow, so you've been having a heat wave too....way over across the pond! I am not a fan of hot weather and was glad that this week finally settled down. Staying indoors with the a/c on and crafting is one of my favorite things but enough was enough. Your sweet little baby card is one you'll have to keep until the right occasion, but I'm sure it will be be loved by any recipient. Yes please to the dies and bow-maker!

So, the fans that were running around your house were followers of your blog I suppose.

  22. That is such a sweet card Di and you've coloured the critter beautifully too.

We were really lucky several years ago we purchased an air conditioner because it was half price. We had that on full power in the lounge from when we got up to when we went to bed and I was still too hot, grr, and I had very swollen joints too. I don't mind the heat if the air is dry but the heat we get is so badly humid that it affects my RA, my fibro and my back pain gets so much worse too, grr! As far as I'm concerned it's so much nicer now with the lower temperature.

As for the prizes I'm going to be a pain and say I would love the square dies but not the stamp or bow maker. If that's too complicated then leave me out of the draw sweet lady! Hope you and Parsnip have a fabulous week Karen xx

  25. Oh, Di, that's such a darling baby car! I love the color combo and that you also tuck away scrap bits of paper back into the original stack. lol That's exactly what I used on my card which I'll be posting tomorrow. I found perfect scraps in an old stack of mine and they had perfect colors for what I wanted to do. I'd love to play for the dies only since I already have two bow makers and stamps very similar to the panda baby. :-D

I have missed playing here this month. June is so extra-busy for me that I haven't been doing much crafting at all. Fortunately July is just around the corner. Yay!!!
Yes, please, to the stamps only this time. I have a bow maker and also a set of stitched squares already. Someone else will really enjoy those prize, just like I love the ones that already live in my craft room.

  45. Hullo dear Di, finally made my way over to your playground... sigh have been so awol in my boggigjng and commenting, I keep think next week will be quieter then I'm out for most of it, result everything is done on the run. Mercifully I'm fairly well at moment otherwise would HAVE to slow down.
LOVE the stamp and Die set, that is sooooo cute and really could do with some more baby stamps, and those stitched dies are great size etc.. I have a bow easy so will gratefully decline it. I keep it with my Dies in Die box, which aren't Spellbinders they go in another section. I always know where it is then pity wasn't more organised with some other things. You'll see by my post I've had another card making binge session. With brushos ... bought in U.K. And sent to my UK family who sent them and then brought some home when they came... so cheap over there compared to here, and oh how I love them.
Hope you're okay Di with your back etc.
Sending loving hugs and prayers from Downunder.
Thanks for sharing your challenge so faithfully, you are a blessing!
